Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi inaugurated today, Saturday, the house of the greatest Arab poet, Muhammad Mahdi Al-Jawahiri, in Al-Qadisiyah district in the capital, Baghdad, after rehabilitating it.

A statement by Al-Kadhimi’s office stated: The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, the Mayor of Baghdad, and the family of the great poet Muhammad Mahdi Al-Jawahiri attended the opening ceremony.

Al-Kadhimi stressed the government’s keenness to sponsor culture, and to evoke the luminous biographies of Iraq’s creators, and their intellectual and cultural exploits.

He pointed out the importance of the opening of Al-Jawahiri’s house, as it is one of the poetic and journalistic figures of which Iraq is proud. He thanked all the efforts that contributed to the reconstruction of Al-Jawahiri’s house, and to show it in a way that reflects the symbolism of a poet who chronicled the struggle of the Iraqi and Arab people with his poetry, until he became the greatest Arab poet, not Just the poet of Iraq..

Al-Kadhimi indicated that Al-Jawahiri’s poetry, which is full of patriotism, humanity, openness and dialogue, calls us today to get out of factional and personal trenches, and go to the wide and comprehensive patriotism of all Iraqis.
