Sulaymaniyah: An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck the Iraqi-Iranian border northeast of Penjwen. The seismic observatories of the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring recorded the earthquake this morning, approximately 20 km northeast of Penjwen district in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Seismic Monitoring Department of the Meteorology Authority reported that the earthquake occurred at 10:49:40 AM local time. The report also mentioned that no information was received from residents living nearby about feeling the tremor.
The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring has urged citizens to avoid rumors and rely on information issued by the Authority. Citizens are also advised to adhere to the recommendations and guidelines for earthquake safety.
