Baghdad: Minister of Education Abdul Karim Abtan Al-Jubouri discussed with Save the Children International on Friday ways to bring out-of-school children back into education, as well as supporting infrastructure and clean-energy projects in the education sector.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Jubouri held discussions with the organization and its international experts in the Kurdistan Region on opportunities to attract new donors and partners and secure funding for projects that address Iraq’s education priorities.

The statement said the minister reviewed the program’s experience in providing non-formal education opportunities, bringing out-of-school children back into the education system, and implementing accelerated learning programs. The discussions also covered the possibility of extending the program through 2027 and mobilizing additional resources to support students’ return to school.

The meeting also addressed infrastructure and clean-energy projects, as well as opportunities to engage the private sector in the education sector. Discussions further covered the development of vocational education, preparation and training programs, and aligning curricula with labor-market requirements.

Al-Jubouri, according to the statement, outlined the ministry’s vision for establishing long-term partnerships based on international cooperation, aimed at meeting the needs of Iraqi children and supporting the future development of education in Iraq.
