Baghdad: The Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that 113 new schools have entered service during the past six months.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ministry of Education spokesman Karim al-Sayed stated that school buildings remain a top priority for the Ministry and the government, highlighting the opening of 113 new schools during this period.

He further explained that as part of its preparations for the upcoming academic year, the Ministry continues to focus on school infrastructure, aspiring to transform them into gateways for solutions within the Ministry’s reform plan. In addition to the new schools, more than 18 schools have been renovated.

Al-Sayed also indicated that the Ministry is preparing for the upcoming academic year by instructing school administrations to ensure that school buildings are ready and to identify any that require renovation or rehabilitation, especially those that are older. The Ministry’s priority remains the preservation of prefabricated and mud-brick schools.
