Beirut: Egyptian basketball star Ismail Ahmed, a standout player for the Lebanese Al Riyadi team, has entered the Guinness World Records as the oldest basketball player to achieve a triple-double in a single game. This achievement coincides with his team's celebration of winning the Lebanese league title.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed announced his record on his Facebook page, where he shared a photo of himself receiving the Guinness World Records certificate during halftime of the final game between Al Riyadi and Al Hikma. Al Riyadi triumphed over Al Hikma with a score of 100-79 in the seventh game of the best-of-seven championship finals to secure the title.

Ahmed, regarded as one of the most notable basketball players in the Arab world, broke the record on May 24th during a game against Homenetmen Beirut. Throughout his illustrious career, Ahmed has won the Lebanese league title 17 times, 16 with Al Riyadi and once with Homenetmen. Additionally, he claimed the Egyptian Premier League title three times with Al-Ittihad Alexandria and the AFC Champions League twice in 2011 and 2014 with Al-Riyadi. His international achievements include winning two bronze medals with the Egyptian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations.
