Baghdad: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed with U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff the latest developments in U.S.-Iran negotiations and efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that would help reduce tensions and promote stability in the region.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Egypt's Foreign Ministry stated that Minister Abdelatty received a phone call from Witkoff on Saturday evening as part of ongoing consultations on regional developments. The call addressed the latest developments in negotiations between Washington and Tehran, as well as ongoing contacts aimed at reaching the anticipated agreement, which would contribute to reducing tensions, ending the war, and opening a new phase of security and stability in the region.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's welcome of the expected agreement, stressing Cairo's commitment to continuing coordination with regional partners to support efforts to reach a final deal that takes into account the concerns of all parties. He also underscored the importance of seizing the current opportunity to end the war and strengthen regional stability.

For his part, Witkoff praised the intensive efforts undertaken by regional parties, including Egypt, to support efforts to reach the agreement, expressing hope that it would contribute to consolidating security and stability across the region.
