Baghdad: The eighth Baghdad Dialogue Conference commenced on Friday, attended by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, with the participation of a number of officials, political and diplomatic figures, and academics. The conference, hosted by Baghdad, is discussing a range of regional and international issues, as well as the political, security, and economic challenges facing the region and ways to enhance dialogue and cooperation among its countries.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Director of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue Abbas Al-Amiri stated in a speech during the eighth Baghdad Dialogue Conference that ‘100 days are not sufficient to assess the government’s performance,’ emphasizing that ‘the region witnessed major upheavals and developments during this period that were reflected on the Iraqi scene.’ He added that ‘what took place during the past 100 days represents a foundational stage,’ highlighting that ‘the results of the government’s work and the strategic projects currently being pursued have not yet begun to emerge in the required manner.’
Al-Amiri pointed to ‘the importance of moving from dealing with crises to building sustainable strategic partnerships, in a way that strengthens Iraq’s position and role in its regional and international surroundings.’
