Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is set to convene an extraordinary meeting of Foreign Ministers from member states at its Jeddah headquarters tomorrow, Friday. The agenda focuses on addressing the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians, the displacement calls, and the urgent need for Gaza’s reconstruction.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this meeting follows an emergency Arab summit hosted by Egypt earlier this week. During that summit, Arab leaders deliberated on the Palestinian situation and explored potential support mechanisms for the Palestinian people.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati, in a press conference held in Cairo, stated that Egypt will propose the adoption of a Gaza reconstruction plan during the Jeddah ministerial meeting. This plan, which has received approval from Arab leaders, aims to rebuild the affected areas while ensuring that residents are not displaced. Abdel Aati highlighted concerns over American proposals for a “Middle East Riviera” in Gaza.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, confirmed that the Arab Summit embraced the Egyptian reconstruction project. He further urged the Security Council to consider deploying peacekeeping forces in both Gaza and the West Bank.

In their final statement, Arab leaders emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid, and the formal adoption of Egypt’s reconstruction plan for Gaza. They also highlighted the critical need for international efforts to exert pressure on Israel to halt its military operations, cautioning about potential regional consequences if these actions persist.
