Doha: The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in talks focused on regional and international developments, as well as the bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced via its social media platform that the Emir received Fidan in Doha. However, specifics regarding the content of the discussions were not disclosed. This meeting followed a prior engagement between Fidan and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

In a statement issued by the Qatari Amiri Diwan, it was noted that the Emir hosted “Mr. Hakan Fidan, the Foreign Minister of the brotherly Turkish Republic,” at Lusail Palace. At the outset, Fidan expressed his condolences to Emir Tamim over the passing of the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on July 12, wishing for divine mercy upon the departed.

The Amiri Diwan further reported that the Emir conveyed his gratitude to the Foreign Minister for his heartfelt condolences. The meeting highlighted the strong cooperation between Qatar and Turkey, addressing recent regional and international issues, with a focus on diplomatic endeavors and joint efforts to reduce tensions and bolster security and stability.

The discussions were also attended by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi.
