Erdogan and Trump Discuss Regional and International Developments


Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications stated in a press release that Erdogan and Trump discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States, the latest developments in Syria, the work of the “Peace Council,” and trade relations, particularly in the defense industry, in addition to regional and international issues, during a phone call last night.



During the call, Erdogan affirmed that Turkey and the United States will continue to take the necessary steps to strengthen their cooperation, emphasizing that enhancing relations in all areas is in the mutual interest of both countries.



Erdogan noted that Turkey attaches great importance to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and integration in neighboring Syria, pointing out that his country is closely monitoring the process in coordination with the United States and the Syrian authorities.



The Turkish President also expressed his hope that the “Peace Council” would achieve fruitful results, according to the statement, emphasizing his conviction that ending the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and its reconstruction would pave the way for achieving lasting peace in the region.
