Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for concrete reforms within the United Nations to enhance its role as a platform for global justice. In a video message marking the 80th anniversary of the UN’s founding, Erdogan emphasized the organization’s successes in promoting global peace and security, while highlighting the need for further improvements.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan stressed the importance of making the United Nations a platform for justice, especially in light of the injustices faced by the Palestinian people. Turkey, a founding member of the United Nations in 1945, remains committed to strengthening the UN’s role in establishing peace and international cooperation.

Erdogan urged member states to bolster the United Nations’ capacity to foster peace, prosperity, and solidarity on a global scale. By doing so, he believes the organization can move forward with the determination demonstrated by its founding members 80 years ago. He expressed Turkey’s readiness to support reform initiatives, including the UN 80 initiative led by the Secretary-General.

Highlighting Turkey’s stance on UN Security Council reform with the slogan “The World is Bigger than Five,” Erdogan reiterated the possibility of achieving a more just world. He called on nations to take concrete steps to restore the United Nations as a beacon of hope for humanity, expressing optimism that its 80th anniversary would herald positive change globally.
