Erdogan Expresses Readiness to Mediate Between Russia and Ukraine

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed Turkey’s readiness to facilitate diplomatic communication between Russia and Ukraine to help achieve lasting peace.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications reported that Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed various issues, including bilateral relations and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, during a phone call on Monday.

Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to ending the conflict through a just and lasting peace. The Kremlin noted that Putin indicated the reviewed proposals align with discussions from the Russian-American summit in Alaska and could potentially form the basis for a peaceful resolution.

The Kremlin’s statement also highlighted Russia’s interest in a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis. Erdogan further proposed that Istanbul could host talks, as it did earlier this year for three rounds of peace negotiations.
