Baghdad: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in The Hague, Netherlands, to take part in the NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, which kicks off later today. The delegation accompanying the President includes Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Gler, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Senior Advisor to the President for Foreign Policy and Security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a post on the X platform by Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun indicated that discussions at the summit will focus on the threats and risks facing the Euro-Atlantic region. Altun stated that a new commitment to defense investment is expected to dominate the summit’s agenda, aiming to increase defense spending by member nations in line with current security conditions.

The publication further noted that the summit would evaluate NATO’s efforts in deterrence and defense against key threats identified by the alliance. Altun mentioned that President Erdogan is anticipated to hold bilateral meetings with various heads of state and government attending the summit.
