Erdogan Highlights Positive Impact of Syrian Stability on Regional Countries

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the regional benefits of a stable Syria during his speech at the Success Awards ceremony for contracting services outside Turkey. Erdogan stated, “When Syria regains stability and security, we and all countries in the region will feel the positive effects. Syria’s recovery, with Turkey’s support, will have a positive impact on the entire region.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan elaborated on the implications of Syria’s recovery, describing it as a turning point for the region. He expressed optimism about the recent presidential decree by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, which secures the basic rights of Kurds in Syria. Erdogan also outlined plans for a comprehensive reconstruction campaign in Syria, particularly in areas devastated by previous conflicts.

Erdogan reiterated his stance against the formation of a separate state or armed forces within Syria, advocating for a resolution to the country’s issues through calm and wise negotiations. He suggested that adherence to the spirit of existing agreements is crucial for Syria’s future.

Highlighting Turkey’s economic achievements, Erdogan noted the impressive performance of the Turkish economy in 2025, a year marked by changes in global trade and diplomacy. He praised the Turkish construction sector’s accomplishments abroad, citing 12,816 projects across 138 countries, valued at over $557 billion, with the majority completed during the Justice and Development Party’s rule.

Based on data from “Engineering News-Record,” Erdogan stated that Turkey ranks second globally for the number of companies among the world’s top 250 construction firms. He specified that eight Turkish companies are in the top 100, with two in the top 50, and acknowledged Turkey’s ninth place in revenue from international projects, totaling $20.8 billion.

Erdogan also highlighted the inclusion of eight Turkish companies in the 2025 list of the world’s top 225 design and engineering firms, with Turkey moving up to sixth place in company numbers.

On the Turkish economy, Erdogan reported a significant drop in inflation to its lowest in 49 months at 30.89 percent. He mentioned a historic rise in Central Bank reserves, now exceeding $200 billion, a substantial increase from the $27.5 billion in 2002, reaching $205.177 billion recently.
