Erdogan Pledges to Prevent Greater Catastrophe Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey is intensifying its efforts to prevent the attacks by Israel and its supporters on Iran from escalating into a greater catastrophe. Speaking at a trade union event in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s firm rejection of any attacks on Iran’s sovereignty and regional security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan highlighted his country’s commitment to mitigating the impacts of the current tensions in the region. The Turkish president assured citizens that the government is taking all necessary measures to protect them from potential harm.

Erdogan also reiterated Turkey’s stance against what he described as a genocidal war being waged by Israel against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. In response to these actions, Ankara has taken the step of suspending trade relations with Israel, foregoing a trade volume worth approximately $9 billion.
