Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan engaged in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and broader regional developments. Erdogan expressed his concern over the humanitarian challenges in Gaza and urged for immediate international intervention to alleviate the Palestinians’ suffering.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan highlighted the importance of resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict through a two-state solution to ensure lasting peace in the region. He commended Macron on France’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine, viewing it as a significant step in supporting Palestinian rights.

Macron had announced France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly meeting in New York. He reiterated this commitment on the X platform, emphasizing France’s historic dedication to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. Currently, 149 out of 193 UN member states recognize the State of Palestine.
