Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has firmly stated his country's opposition to any further alterations in the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, similar to changes from a century ago. He emphasized the urgent need to conclude the ongoing Israeli-American conflict with Iran to prevent a broader regional escalation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan expressed these views following his participation in the annual ambassadors' iftar program in Ankara. He emphasized the potential for finding a dignified resolution to regional issues and proposed the initiation of a new negotiation process. Erdogan warned that the consequences of new conflicts would extend beyond the immediate parties, affecting the entire region and the global community, including Europe and Asia.

Erdogan highlighted recent defensive actions taken by Turkey, noting that ballistic missiles aimed at the country had been neutralized and cautionary messages were communicated to Iran. On global matters, he outlined Turkey's active role in addressing food security in cooperation with UN bodies such as the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and announced the candidacy of former Turkish Minister Mehdi Eker for the position of FAO Director-General.

In addressing Israeli policies, Erdogan criticized the administration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for its illegal and expansionist actions, which he claimed undermine peace efforts. He accused Israel of exploiting the international community's diverted attention from Gaza to jeopardize the two-state solution and reported continued aggression against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including obstruction of humanitarian aid.

Despite a ceasefire agreement since October 10, 2025, Erdogan noted that Israel restricts the entry of agreed-upon humanitarian aid into Gaza, where approximately 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.5 million displaced individuals, face dire conditions.
