Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has urged Iran to halt its targeting of countries in the region and to focus on diplomatic solutions. In a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Erdogan highlighted the importance of opening diplomatic channels in light of ongoing conflicts.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Presidency revealed that the call was initiated by Iran. Erdogan underlined Turkey’s efforts to promote diplomatic communication while also rejecting any illegitimate interventions against Iran. Simultaneously, Erdogan condemned Iran’s actions against neighboring countries, stating these attacks are detrimental and must stop.

Erdogan expressed concerns about the adverse effects of regional conflicts on Turkey, emphasizing that any breach of Turkish airspace is unacceptable and that Turkey will take necessary measures against such violations. He also conveyed condolences for the loss of lives, particularly children, in a recent attack on Manab school, and expressed sympathy over the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

During the call, Iranian President Pezeshkian denied the use of Iranian-made missiles in recent incidents involving Turkish airspace and promised a comprehensive investigation.

Since February 28, a military campaign led by Israel and the United States against Iran has resulted in significant casualties, including the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with attacks in the region, causing further deaths and injuries, sparking condemnation from affected countries.

The ongoing conflict has intensified regional tensions with Tehran launching missiles and drones toward Israel, leading to casualties and injuries. The United States and Israel accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear and missile programs that pose a threat, while Iran insists its nuclear ambitions remain peaceful.
