Kirkuk: A security source reported that a convict escaped from the forensic medicine department at Azadi Hospital in Kirkuk during an examination, before security forces were able to recapture him near the hospital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the source explained that the accused was being transferred from the deportation center to the forensic medicine department for examination, but he took advantage of the procedures and fled. Police units pursued him and managed to arrest him in front of Azadi Hospital.

The source added that the pursuit and arrest involved firing shots into the air and at the escapee, without mentioning any injuries.
