Brussels: The Chairman of the European Parliament's Trade Committee, Bernd Lange, emphasized today that any agreement reached in the ongoing trade dispute with the US administration must be enduring. Lange expressed that if an agreement is reached, new customs duties should not be imposed shortly thereafter. He highlighted the European Union's readiness to impose counter-tariffs if a stable solution is not found, declaring, "We will not allow ourselves to be subjected to pressure or blackmail." According to National Iraqi News Agency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, following her call with US President Donald Trump, announced that both sides have agreed to expedite efforts to conclude a trade agreement. She emphasized that "the European Union and the United States share the most important trade relationship in the world." It is noted that the European Union and the United States have agreed to suspend customs duties until next July, aiming to alleviate trade tensions between the two econ omic powerhouses.
