Brussels: The European Union announced the lifting of all economic sanctions imposed on Syria. The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas, shared this development on the "X" website, emphasizing the EU's commitment to aiding the reconstruction of Syria into a peaceful nation inclusive of all groups.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kallas stated, "We want to help the Syrian people rebuild a new, peaceful Syria that is inclusive of all groups." She highlighted the EU's longstanding support for the Syrian people over the past fourteen years and affirmed the continuation of this support.
The decision to lift the sanctions aligns with a similar stance taken by the United States, as announced by President Donald Trump from Riyadh during his Middle East tour. This move signals a shift in international policy towards Syria, focusing on rebuilding and inclusivity.
