Baghdad: Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command and head of the Supreme Security Committee for Mass Pilgrimages, Lt. Gen. Qais Al-Muhammadawi, chaired an expanded conference to discuss security and service preparations for the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH).

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Security Media Cell stated that Lt. Gen. Qais Al-Muhammadawi led the conference at the command headquarters to review the plan for securing the event. The meeting included the head of the Services Committee for Religious Pilgrimages, members of the Joint Operations Command staff, the Director of Military Intelligence, the Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary for Intelligence Affairs, the Director of Operations at the Interior Ministry, and representatives from various entities such as the holy shrines, the Ground Forces Command, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), and the Prime Minister’s Office.

The conference focused on identifying potential challenges, preparing necessary requirements, and ensuring early preparations as per the responsibilities assigned to each entity. Al-Muhammadawi received a detailed briefing from the head of the Services Committee, who highlighted the coordination mechanisms for service delivery to pilgrims and the integration of security and service efforts to ensure the success of Ashura’s commemoration.

Key recommendations from the head of the Security Committee emphasized the need for unified efforts and joint coordination among all security and service committee members. This is particularly important as millions of pilgrims from Iraq and abroad are expected to participate in the commemoration.
