Samsun: Two workers were seriously injured Sunday morning in an explosion at a steel plant in Samsun province on the Black Sea coast of northern Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the explosion occurred inside the furnace control room of the plant, located in the “Organized Industrial Zone” in the Tekikoy district of Samsun province. Two workers had entered the room to operate the electronic control system connected to the furnaces when the explosion occurred suddenly, the cause of which is still under investigation.

The two workers, who were inside the room at the time, were injured. Medical teams were immediately notified, and ambulances rushed to the scene, providing first aid to the injured workers before transferring them to Samsun State Hospital for further treatment.

The force of the explosion shattered windows, blew doors off their hinges, and destroyed the control room. Turkish police and civil defense teams immediately cordoned off the area, and technical teams began examining the equipment and lines to issue an official report determining the precise technical cause of the explosion.

Turkish media outlets reported that this factory had experienced another industrial accident in early June, which resulted in the electrocution deaths of three workers, placing occupational safety procedures within the facility under scrutiny.
