Explosions East of Tehran Due to Controlled Destruction of Ordnance

Tehran: Explosions heard east of Tehran were a result of the controlled destruction of unexploded ordnance, according to Fars News Agency. A local official from the city of Pakdasht clarified that the explosive sounds were part of a planned operation to safely dispose of leftover war munitions, posing no danger to the public.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the local official stated, "The sound of the explosions was related to a controlled operation to destroy leftover war munitions. There was no accident or threat to citizens." The operation was conducted in line with safety regulations and executed by experienced personnel.

Residents in Pakdasht and Qiamadasht reported hearing the explosions without initial knowledge of their cause. This incident occurs amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, following recent US military actions targeting sites within Iran, which have increased concerns over potential escalation between the two nations.
