Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi and former Speaker Salim al-Jubouri stressed the importance of expediting the formation of parliamentary committees.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from Faihan’s media office indicated that he received former Speaker Salim al-Jubouri at his residence, where they discussed the latest developments on the local and regional scenes.

The meeting addressed the ongoing political process related to the selection of the President of the Republic and the appointment of a Prime Minister, emphasizing the necessity of conducting these steps through constructive political dialogue that respects parliamentary entitlements and reflects the aspirations of the Iraqi public.

The importance of expediting the formation of parliamentary committees using the same mechanism previously adopted was also emphasized, in order to commence their legislative and oversight activities and strengthen Parliament’s role in monitoring laws and public policies.
