Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, has expressed unwavering confidence in the capabilities of the security forces to secure the nation’s borders. He also called for international cooperation on the issue of terrorist prisoners.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan confirmed that the legislative authority received a comprehensive security briefing from the Minister of Defense and leaders of the security forces. The briefing covered developments in the Syrian arena and reviewed the level of security preparedness along the border strip. Faihan indicated that the indicators are reassuring and reflect high confidence in the capabilities and efficiency of the security forces in confronting potential threats.
He explained that the successes achieved in recent years have contributed to building an integrated border security system capable of preventing infiltration and effectively securing the border strip, thus preserving the country’s sovereignty.
Regarding the issue of terrorist prisoners, Faihan noted that the transfer of detainees from Syria was conducted under a bilateral agreement and international supervision. He emphasized that governmental and judicial procedures will be firm and decisive, in accordance with established legal frameworks.
Faihan called on relevant countries to assume their responsibilities and expedite the repatriation of their citizens, highlighting the transnational threat posed by these groups. He stressed that the Iraqi judiciary is committed to taking legal action against all criminals to ensure justice and protect national security.
