Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, has raised a parliamentary question to the head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Mohammed al-Lami, to scrutinize the commission's strategies and actions in addressing corruption and enhancing oversight mechanisms.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan's inquiry focuses on the procedures adopted by the commission in dealing with cases of illicit enrichment, conflicts of interest, and illegal gains identified through financial disclosure forms. This comes amidst escalating corruption rates. The question also seeks clarity on the number of reports received by the commission, those which have been closed, and the reports forwarded to the judiciary. Additionally, Faihan requested a detailed table listing the entities involved and the reasons behind the closure of reports for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The First Deputy Speaker further demanded information on the cases referred to the judiciary and the amount of public funds recovered during the specified period. He emphasized the need for a presentation of the Integrity Commission's legislative vision aimed at refining procedures and mechanisms to combat corruption, aligning with the government's program and the House of Representatives' recommendations. The vision is intended to reinforce transparency, protect public funds, and ensure accountability for those involved in corrupt practices.
