Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, congratulated the Iraqi Bar Association on Monday on the occasion of Iraqi Lawyers’ Day, affirming the Parliament’s support for strengthening their role and upholding the rule of law.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the First Deputy Speaker’s media office stated in a press release that “the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, extended his warmest congratulations to the Iraqi Bar Association and the legal community on the occasion of Iraqi Lawyers’ Day,” praising “their role in promoting justice, protecting rights, and consolidating the rule of law.”

Faihan affirmed that “the House of Representatives continues to support legislation that will develop the profession and enhance the status of lawyers,” explaining that “the first reading of the draft amendment to the Lawyers’ Law No. (173) of 1965 represents a step towards regulating the profession, guaranteeing the rights of lawyers, and strengthening their legal protection while performing their duties.”

It pointed out that “lawyers are a fundamental pillar in supporting efforts to combat corruption and safeguard public funds,” emphasizing that “building a state of law requires the integration of the roles of legislative, judicial, and legal institutions.”
