Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, affirmed that strengthening Parliament does not weaken the government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement issued by his media office, Faihan, speaking while receiving a number of public figures, said that the House is committed to passing laws that impact people’s lives. He emphasized focusing on developing the Iraqi state’s capabilities, engaging openly with the world, supporting state efforts to combat corruption and confront challenges, and establishing Iraq as a balanced nation maintaining fruitful relations and cooperation with countries across the globe.

Faihan expressed his desire for continued parliamentary work to enact laws that enable state institutions to perform their duties effectively, without creating conflicts or friction between the various parties involved.

The First Deputy Speaker noted that strengthening Parliament does not imply weakening the government; rather, the more effective the legislative and oversight authority is, the better the government is able to implement its service programs, advance the state, strengthen foreign relations, and properly fulfill its domestic roles.
