Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Faihan, has urged Lieutenant General Uday Samir, Director of the General Traffic Directorate, to enhance readiness for the upcoming Arba’een pilgrimage and streamline citizen procedures.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament issued a press release detailing Faihan’s meeting with Lieutenant General Uday Samir. The meeting, attended by several members of Parliament, aimed to discuss the current operations of the General Traffic Directorate, review future plans, and address key challenges. Discussions also focused on supporting the Directorate’s efforts and improving performance through relevant parliamentary committees.

Faihan highlighted the need for intensified preparations at major entry points to provinces expecting an influx of pilgrims for the Arba’een of Imam Hussein. The goal is to facilitate traffic flow and reduce congestion during the pilgrimage. He emphasized simplifying administrative procedures and reducing bureaucracy in traffic departments to expedite citizens’ transactions.

Additionally, Faihan reiterated the importance of combating bribery and corruption and promoting traffic awareness to protect citizens’ lives and ensure adherence to traffic rules and public safety.
