Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, emphasized the significance of the Fatwa of sufficient Jihad in halting the spread of terrorism and protecting Iraq and the world. Al-Dulaimi's statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), marked the twelfth anniversary of the fatwa issued by the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, and the establishment of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Dulaimi expressed pride in the historical stance that shaped a national project aimed at preserving Iraq's unity and protecting its people and holy sites. He praised the sacrifices and acts of heroism by the security forces and citizens who responded to the call of duty, recognizing their efforts as a significant victory in modern Iraqi history.
The statement further highlighted the critical role of the supreme religious authority in countering terrorism and extremism, stressing that the fatwa served as a protective measure for Iraq, the region, and the world. Al-Dulaimi noted the necessity of recalling the fatwa's contents to strengthen national unity amidst rapid regional developments.
Additionally, Al-Dulaimi pledged support for legislative measures to assist the families of martyrs and the wounded, emphasizing the importance of protecting their rights and dignity. He affirmed the commitment to pass the Popular Mobilization Forces Law, honoring the sacrifices made to defend Iraq and its sacred sites. The fatwa of sufficient jihad is seen as a lasting symbol of Iraq's unity and the cohesion of its people.
