Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called for wisdom and calm in the face of provocations in Syria. Fidan warned in a post on the “X” platform that some parties have recently been trying to exploit social rifts in Syria with the aim of destabilizing it. He stressed that ‘it is wrong to try to hold a specific sect or religious group responsible for the recent events in Syria.’

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan pointed out that he participated in a historic meeting in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of the foreign ministers of Jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. The meeting aimed to find common solutions to chronic problems in the region and take regional initiatives. It discussed in detail issues related to Syria’s stability, especially with regard to combating terrorism.

Fidan stressed that the participating countries agreed to provide support in all aspects to the new government in Syria and support all activities aimed at achieving stability in the country. On the Palestinian level, the Turkish minister called for “taking responsibility to confront Israeli expansionist policies in the region and finding a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, stressing that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain so.”

Fidan warned that any speech or steps aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians from their homeland are “doomed to failure.” He also pointed out that the five-party meeting in Jordan witnessed the adoption of a decision to establish a joint mechanism for operations and intelligence against the terrorist organization “ISIS.”

Fidan explained that specialized teams from the participating countries will work on detailing the process and accelerating its implementation. He stressed the importance of “joint action” to contribute more strongly to achieving regional peace and security. Fidan considered the five-party summit to be an important step in this direction, indicating that the next summit meeting will be held in Turkey, without specifying a date for that.
