Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that targeting Saudi Arabia from both the south and the north, and striking it by attackers, is unacceptable and cannot be ignored. This came in statements he made to Turkish journalists during a visit he made to Syria last Sunday and Monday, during which he addressed a number of Turkish foreign policy issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan said in a press statement today: “When the matter becomes an activity aimed at encircling Saudi Arabia from the north and the south, destroying vital infrastructure, and harming not only Saudi Arabia but also the region, no one can remain indifferent to that.” Fidan recalled that Ankara, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized its support for Saudi Arabia, noting that they had also sent the necessary messages to the other concerned parties, stressing that Turkey is acting in accordance with the spirit of the “Mecca Pact.”

Regarding the Mecca Pact, Fidan explained that technical discussions aimed at institutionalizing the alliance between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are still ongoing. He stated that these discussions are currently focused on issues such as the structure of the alliance’s headquarters and the number of its staff, adding that the process is nearing completion.

Fidan said they aim to expand the Mecca Pact, indicating that more concrete steps will be taken in the coming period.
