Baghdad, FIFA President Gianni Infantino commented on what he witnessed at the opening of the 25th Gulf Cup in Basra Governorate.
He said in a tweet on Twitter: “It was great to attend the opening ceremony and opening match of the 2023 Arabian Gulf Cup in Basra between Iraq and Oman, and I am very happy that competitive football has finally returned to Iraq, a real football-loving country.”
He added: “I congratulate Iraq, the Iraqi Football Association and the Arab Gulf Football Association for the warm welcome and all the organizational efforts of such tournaments to make football global.”
