Baghdad: Minister of Finance Faleh Sari affirmed to a World Bank delegation on Thursday that the ministry is moving ahead with implementing automation projects and translating them into practical steps. The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that ‘Minister of Finance Faleh Sari received a World Bank delegation headed by Regional Director for the Middle East Dalia Khalifa and the Bank’s Mission Director in Iraq, Emmanuel Salinas, to discuss financial reform files, the development of financial management tools, and automation projects being implemented by the ministry.’

According to Iraqi News Agency, the minister affirmed that ‘the ministry is proceeding with the implementation of automation projects and moving them toward practical steps, contributing to the development of work procedures, improving the efficiency of resource and data management, and enhancing oversight and transparency in financial institutions.’ He underscored ‘the importance of the World Bank’s role in supporting the automation project and benefiting from its technical expertise in developing financial systems,’ noting that ‘cooperation with the Bank covers a number of vital sectors linked to financial and economic reform.’

For their part, World Bank representatives praised ‘the measures being taken by the Ministry of Finance to develop the financial and banking sector,’ affirming ‘the Bank’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the ministry to ensure the success of joint projects in Iraq,’ and pointing to growing interest among major global companies in the Iraqi market.
