Fire at Al-Iqtidaar School Causes Smoke Inhalation Injuries in Diyala

Diyala: Several students and teachers suffocated as a result of a fire at a school in Diyala. A number of students and teachers suffered from smoke inhalation as a result of a fire at the Al-Iqtidaar School in the Al-Khalis district of Diyala Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a police source reported that the fire erupted at Al-Iqtidaar School located in Al-Aswad village on the outskirts of Al-Khalis, north of Baquba, the capital of Diyala Governorate. Firefighters successfully managed to control and extinguish the blaze.

The police source further stated that the incident resulted in smoke inhalation among eight students and teachers, who were subsequently transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
