Baghdad: Russian media reported on Sunday that a fire broke out at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant during the early morning hours.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ren TV quoted the plant’s press office as saying that the fire broke out in a transformer unit not related to the nuclear department, noting that there was no risk to the safety of workers or the facility itself.

The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is one of Russia’s largest nuclear facilities and is located near the Ukrainian border.
