Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Basra Food Warehouse


Basra: Civil Defense teams in Basra successfully extinguished a fire that erupted in a food warehouse located in the Al-Ashar area of the city center. The incident occurred today, Wednesday, and saw a swift response from emergency services.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Civil Defense Directorate reported that the firefighting operation involved three snorkeling vehicles, 15 specialized vehicles, and 35 tankers with a capacity of 16,000 each. The Southern Oil Fire Department and tank vehicles from the Basra Municipality Directorate also contributed to the efforts. The operation was supervised by Brigadier General Mazen Mohammed Lafta, Director of Basra Civil Defense, along with Civil Defense officers and personnel. They managed to reach the site in record time, controlling and extinguishing the blaze without any human casualties.



The area was secured by security forces and traffic patrols to ensure public safety. Forensic teams are investigating the cause of the fire. It was noted that the warehouses did not comply with safety regulations, and the owners have been referred to the competent courts with legal measures being taken against them.
