Basra: Iraqi Airways announced the launch of its first direct flights between Basra and Baku, starting tomorrow, Wednesday. The company’s Director General, Munaf Abdul-Munim, stated in a press release: “The first direct flight between Basra and Baku will commence tomorrow, Wednesday, with one flight per week, as part of the company’s plans to expand its international network and meet the increasing demand for travel.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the opening of this route comes in response to the growing demand for travel during the season, and to give travelers from Basra and the southern provinces the opportunity for direct access to Baku, one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the region.

The initiative is part of Iraqi Airways’ strategy to diversify its network and enhance travel options for citizens. Munaf Abdul-Munim highlighted that the airline, under the direct guidance of the Minister of Transport, Wahab Al-Hassani, continues to open new destinations.
