First Iraqi Satellite Ground Station to Launch in Baghdad

Baghdad:The first Iraqi satellite ground station in Baghdad is set to be launched this coming Sunday, as announced by Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad on Thursday.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Minister stated that the station, known as a teleport, is designed to interface with satellites in Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO). This development marks a significant step towards achieving Iraqi digital sovereignty.

The Minister urged security and service institutions, government ministries, and private sector companies to use this station as a primary hub for data transmission and reception, reducing dependence on international infrastructure outside national control.

This initiative is part of a broader national space sovereignty project, with further details to be announced in the future.
