Baghdad The General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control arrested (5) persons accused of trafficking in narcotic drugs in different regions of the country.

It said in a statement that the Basra Drug Control Department arrested (3) suspects, while the Kirkuk and Maysan drug control departments arrested one suspect each.

It added that the defendants had found crystals and marijuana, in addition to drug paraphernalia, and an unlicensed firearm (Kalashnikov), noting that they were referred to the judiciary in accordance with the provisions of legal articles (28/32).

It indicated that these duties came based on the intelligence information obtained by the detachments of the Directorate deployed in Baghdad and the governorates, in addition to the cooperation of citizens through the toll-free (178) hotline.
