Istanbul: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aty, have underscored the significance of collaborative efforts to prevent further escalation in the region. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the discussions between the Iraqi and Egyptian foreign ministers during the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Istanbul.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on the pressing developments in the region stemming from the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Both ministers highlighted the necessity of intensifying diplomatic initiatives and taking concrete steps by all parties involved to de-escalate the current military tensions and avert further deterioration in the regional situation.

The statement noted the Egyptian Minister’s commendation of Fuad Hussein’s proposal during an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers. The proposal called for the establishment of an Arab-Islamic committee aimed at facilitating communication and dialogue with the United States, European countries, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The objective is to achieve a ceasefire and resume political negotiations.

The ministers reiterated the importance of coordination and joint cooperation to prevent regional escalation that could jeopardize the area’s security and stability. They stressed the need to maintain regional peace and work collectively to avert the situation from escalating into broader conflicts.
