FM Araghchi Emphasizes Strengthening of Iran-Azerbaijan Relations

Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding comprehensive relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan as part of Tehran’s good-neighborliness policy.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Foreign Minister Araghchi met with Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mojtaba Damirchilu in Tehran to review the latest developments in bilateral relations. During the meeting, the ambassador presented a detailed report on the current state of Iran-Azerbaijan ties following the foreign minister’s recent visit to Baku.

Araghchi referred to his constructive meetings with senior Azerbaijani officials and underlined the need to effectively advance Iran’s good-neighborly approach through sustained cooperation and continuous development of bilateral relations. He also highlighted the importance of expanding consultations and collaboration in key areas, including economic cooperation, transit and transportation, political dialogue, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

During his visit to Azerbaijan on December 7, Araghchi met with President Ilham Aliyev and other high-ranking officials. The discussions included major bilateral issues along with regional developments.
