Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed the latest developments in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the US attacks on Yemen, in a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araqchi.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement detailing the conversation. The two sides discussed the recent developments in Gaza and Lebanon, particularly focusing on the Israeli entity’s violation of the ceasefire. Additionally, they addressed the US attacks on Yemen, with the Iranian Foreign Minister expressing his concern over these events.
The statement also revealed that Iranian Minister Fuad Hussein was briefed on the content of US President Donald Trump’s letter to the Iranian leadership, represented by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and emphasized that the Iranian government would respond to the letter.
The ministers further discussed the bilateral relations between their countries, highlighting the importance of continued communication and joint coordination. Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his concern about the rising tensions in the region and appreciated the transparency regarding President Trump’s letter, hoping it would facilitate dialogue between the two nations.
Both ministers agreed on the necessity of maintaining communication, particularly during the upcoming sensitive phase.
