FM Hussein, Iranian Counterpart Stress Need to Intensify Diplomatic Efforts to Ease Tensions

Baghdad: Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday stressed the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and enhance regional stability.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Foreign Ministry released a statement noting that Hussein received a phone call from Araghchi on Sunday evening. During the call, the Iranian minister briefed Hussein on the latest developments related to the ongoing conflict, providing details on the reasons behind Iran's recent response to the Israeli attack.

The statement further detailed that the two sides discussed expected Israeli reactions in the coming period, as well as the trajectory of Iran-U.S. dialogue and its future prospects, along with broader regional developments.

It emphasized that both ministers underscored the importance of stepping up diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen regional stability. This includes engaging with European countries to play a more active role in supporting peace efforts.

The ministers also agreed to continue coordination and communication on issues of mutual concern and regional developments, the statement added.
