FM Meets Yemeni Counterpart, Emphasizes Comprehensive National Dialogue in Yemen


Riyadh: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of peaceful solutions and comprehensive national dialogue in Yemen. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that “Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Yemen, Shaye Mohsen Al Zindani, at the Yemeni Minister’s residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. During the meeting, they discussed relations between Iraq and Yemen and ways to strengthen them in various fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries. The two sides also exchanged views on overall developments in the region and the security and political challenges facing it.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting shed light on the situation in Yemen, where Fuad Hussein affirmed Iraq’s support for all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving stability and restoring security and peace to Yemen, stressing the importance of peaceful solutions and comprehensive national dialogue.



The discussions addressed the importance of holding the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad, especially in light of the current regional circumstances. The Minister stressed that the summit represents an opportunity to strengthen Arab solidarity and coordinate positions to confront common crises.



The meeting was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Riyadh, Safiya Talib Al Suhail.
