Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stressed that ‘our meeting today comes at a sensitive stage in the history of the Arab nation, which requires unifying our efforts.’ In a speech at the Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting, he said that ‘the Palestinian issue remains central to our conscience,’ pointing to the need to stop the Zionist war machine and end the suffering of the people there.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, he affirmed Iraq’s support for and solidarity with Sudan and its sovereignty, calling for an end to the war there and the settlement of differences on a national basis. He noted Iraq’s welcome to the holding of the international conference in Cairo to rebuild the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Minister said that Iraq supports efforts to achieve stability in Syria. He explained that Iraq calls for the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Syria. He affirmed Iraq’s support for Lebanon and its condemnation of the repeated Zionist attacks on Lebanon’s sovereignty.
