Foreign Minister Affirms Iraq’s Firm Position in Support of Jordan’s Security and Stability


Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed on Thursday Iraq’s firm position in support of Jordan’s security and stability.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed that Fuad Hussein held a phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi. During the conversation, they discussed the relations between Iraq and Jordan and explored ways to strengthen them across various fields. The dialogue also included discussions on the latest regional and international developments.



The statement further elaborated that both ministers emphasized the strong historical ties between Iraq and Jordan and expressed a mutual desire to enhance them. This includes expanding economic, trade, and investment cooperation to benefit the populations of both countries.



Additionally, Hussein reiterated Iraq’s unwavering support for Jordan’s security and stability, condemning any actions that aim to disrupt its security or meddle in its internal affairs. He highlighted the necessity for ongoing coordination between Iraq and Jordan to address mutual regional challenges.



On his part, Ayman Safadi, as reported in the statement, commended Iraq for its constructive role in fostering regional stability. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of both nations in combating terrorism and supporting sustainable development initiatives.
