Foreign Minister Affirms Iraq’s Keenness to Strengthen Cooperation with the United States


Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed the Iraqi government’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the United States. The Foreign Ministry announced that Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Charg© d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Iraq, Ambassador Stephen Fagin. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the political situation in Iraq, particularly the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, with a focus on financial challenges and related issues.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion also covered the conditions of American companies operating in the Kurdistan Region and the relations between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the management of oil extracted from fields located within the region. The Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of reaching realistic solutions that ensure the fair management of national wealth and achieve the public benefit of Iraq.



Minister Hussein reiterated the Iraqi government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the United States in various fields. He underscored the need to support political and economic stability in the country in a manner that serves the common national interest.
