Tehran: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met today in the Iranian capital with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly. The discussion centered on reinforcing bilateral relations and enhancing parliamentary coordination between Iraq and Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement highlighting that the meeting touched upon the latest developments in Iraq’s electoral process and its democratic transition. Fuad Hussein articulated that the constitutional timelines have been adhered to, particularly with the election of the Speaker of Parliament and his two deputies. He noted the forthcoming phase involves selecting the President of the Republic, which will facilitate the formation of a new government within the constitutional framework.
Fuad Hussein stressed the significance of fostering communication and coordination between the Iraqi and Iranian parliaments. This initiative aims to bolster bilateral relations, enable the exchange of expertise, and strengthen parliamentary cooperation to benefit both neighboring nations.
